Watching the CAF Champions League

Aqaba, Jordan
Photos from 16th of November 2008

Many Egyptians work in Aqaba as guest workers. They are cheap labours and usually live together in flat shares. They're young men earning money for their family at home and living very frugal.

I was able to join a group of guest workers who were watching the final of the CAF Champions League in a street cafe. An Egyptian team from Cairo played against a team from Cameroon.

The Egyptian team made the first goal but then lost track and conceded two goals. After 63 minutes the score was 1:2 and due to the first match played two weeks before, Cairo had to come up with another goal for the 2:2.

One minute before the end of the official playing time, Egypt converted a penalty and thereby won the final.
